Millennium Dance Complex - An Intense Dance Studio Preparing You For The Professional World!

The Millennium Dance Complex is well known for having amazing teachers and a large number of classes. It was founded back in 1992 by a woman named Ann Mairie Hudson from NYC. Since then it has become one of Los Angeles’ best dance studios.

Moreover, MDC is an intense and serious place where they prepare you to become a professional dancer. This is not a carefree attitude laid-back dance academy. Indeed this is a place for students who are willing to be challenged to improve their technique and skill level.   

Their program and classes are open to all however it is important to note their classes are taught at the intermediate to advanced level unless specifically specified. Therefore, Beginner students may find their choreography challenging.

Currently, Hip hop is one of their most popular styles but you can also choose another style from their weekly comprehensive dance list. Drop in classes are currently $22.

Moreover, MDC holds a lot of night classes but remember that parking is challenging.

If you are interested in studio rentals, they have 5 available to rent:                   

M Room is 375 Square Feet and is $28 an hour.                                             

Z Room is 1,197 Square Feet and is $39 an hour.  

Y Room is 1219 Square Feet and is $28 an hour for a maximum of three people or $46 per hour for more than 3.              

B Room is 1,362.5 Square Feet and is $90 an hour.

Playground LA

As one of the premier studios in LA, this place doesn’t need much of an introduction. Playground LA is an iconic spot on the West Coast. It is located on the famous Melrose Avenue and was founded by Pussycat Doll Creator Robin Antin and Actor Kenny Wormald. 

Many celebrities have rehearsed, filmed, and or taken classes here. Indeed you will also find many performance dance videos filmed here and uploaded to YouTube.  Their address is 7375 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA, 

Classes starting after 4 pm and on weekends are $22. During the week, day classes before 4 pm are $18. You must be at least 9 years old to join a class except for the heels class, which requires you to be at least 16.

The bottom line is this is a very popular and creative place in LA with a ton of advanced workshops and packed classes.

Movers And Shakers Dance LA - Best Dance Program for Salsa & Bachata

If you aspire to be a great Salsero or Bachatero, then Movers And Shakers is the place for you. They operate out of five different locations. They are:

The Balcony on Beverwil, 9618 W Pico Blvd Suite 507. 

Vibe Dance, 2939 S Sepulveda Blvd.

The Floor, 2372 Veteran Ave.

Soho Dance LA, 1618 Cotner Ave.

D Dance Spot, 1100 S Beverly Dr.

They welcome beginners, have free parking and their instructors are full-time dance teachers. They strongly focus on the basics as a foundational component to becoming a better dancer. Programs work out to be approximately $20 per session

The bottom line is this is a great place to learn Latin dances as well as make new friends.

Hollywood Dance Center - Los Angeles - Studio Classes & Rentals

The Hollywood Dance Center is a New York-style studio with sprung floors to help prevent injuries. It also has very large windows and a lot of natural light. Moreover, they offer two large spaces for training, musical rehearsals, and industry auditions.

Specifically, Space A is approximately 2400 square feet and Space B is approximately 1400 square feet. Both spaces feature central air conditioning, ballet barres, and private dressing rooms. These spaces are also very popular with Los Angeles dance choreographers due to their reasonable rates.

Additionally, this center provides dance classes for children in ballet as well as tap, zumba, ballroom, and Jazz for adults. Indeed if you take dance classes here make sure that you check who to pay and sign up with.  Many times you will book fitness or classical ballet classes directly with your dance teacher.

Evolve Pole & Dance - Creative & Sensual Workshops

Evolve Pole & Dance is our top choice for those seeking an exclusive place to learn pole and other exotic dances. Their lessons are fun but also challenging. One thing is for sure, you will burn a lot of calories here as well as learn some sexy new moves.

This place is also very beginner-friendly and frequently hosts bachelorette and birthday parties. Additionally, it has been used for casting sessions and as a location for music videos. Currently, they have an introductory special rate of $97 for 4 classes and two sauna sessions.

Creation Station

Creation Station Studio City is a center for children. They feature dance as well as musical theater among their many classes.  They welcome children from 18 months to 16 years of age. Styles include ballet, hip hop, lyrical/contemporary as well as jazz and musical theater.

According to the owners, their philosophy is to tap into a child’s imagination by encouraging him or her to develop their artistic strengths in a nurturing environment. Moreover, there is plenty of positive encouragement provided to the students here.
